Sazhina Serafima was born in the city of Pavlovsky Posad in 1993.

In 2016 she moved to St. Petersburg and continued her studies at the private studio Practicum.

In 2010−2012 she studied at the college of design and decorative art of the Moscow State Art Academy named after Stroganov at the faculty of artistic metalworking, in 2013 she stopped her studies and started working as an apprentice, at the same time visiting art studios of painting and drawing in Moscow, Moscow region.

In 2022, she became a resident of the second season of Rhizome of the MAXART Foundation for supporting contemporary art. Since 2022 she has been a student at the Joseph Backstein Institute of Contemporary Art (new artistic strategies, 2022−2024). Lives and works in St. Petersburg.

In art practice, I develop the idea of personal mythology, working with fantastic plots and symbolism of the unconscious. Every project has a main character who either tells a personal story or creates a fictional world around him with other beings with their own laws. In the field of research there are different levels of studying the character - the history of his kind, dreams, daily routine, key moments of life. An important part of artistic research is the desire to address the experience of the life of the Other, different from the accustomed routine, from the similarity.
